Students in the Pioneer Middle School 6th grade math/science classroom of Mrs. Kristine Smith recently had a virtual one-on-one with a Buffalo TV weatherman.
Mrs. Smith said, "Our science class had a wonderful opportunity to speak with Aaron Mentkowski, chief meteorologist from Channel 7 WKBW. The students have been learning about weather, climate and extreme weather. Our focus for the Zoom lesson was the type of extreme weather that this area is most familiar with: lake effect snow."
"My student teacher, Maddison Soth, emailed Aaron and asked if he would be able to speak with the students about his knowledge of lake effect snow. Both of our science classes spoke with him for about 30 minutes. They had the opportunity to ask questions and see him do a live broadcast for the WKBW website," Mrs. Smith continued.
"It was a great memorable experience for the students. They were so excited!" she added.
