One of Pioneer FFA's favorite summer activities is to attend the New York State FFA's Camp Oswegatchie in the Adirondacks.
Nine Pioneer students attended Camp Oswegatchie, with six attending for the first time as campers. There was a full week of activities such as horseback riding, hiking, playing gaga ball, high and low ropes course, and kayaking.
Attendees included Chloe Phetteplace, Seth Higgins, Olivia Clayson, Kassidee Rhodes, Laylanna Olivera, Sam Borer, Emma Inthavong, Autumn Becker, and Jake Jewett. Campers are able to make friends with students from all over New York State that they will probably see again at another FFA activity.
Members also participated in the Wyoming County Fair. The chapter officers created a fair booth that showed the history of our FFA Chapter from its roots as Arcade FFA and Delevan/ Machias FFA.
Many members and teams competed in competitions and did very well. Pioneer had three teams competing in the Electricity competition, with Seth Higgins and Blake Neamon placing 1st as a team and 1st and 2nd place individually. Jared Day and Jacob Dziedzic were the 2nd place team, placing 3rd and 4th individually. Adam Romance and Sam Borer placed 3rd as a team and 5th and 6th individually.
The Small Engines team of Seth Higgins and Blake Neamon also placed 1st as a team, with Seth receiving 1st individual as well.
Tyler Day, even though recently graduated, still participated in many contests. He received 1st in Agronomy and Stockmans, 2nd in Small Animals, 3rd in Tree ID, and 5th in Horticulture.
