Pioneer School District students and staff will have the option of wearing a mask to school—including on buses and all facilities—starting Wednesday, March 2.
"Tomorrow morning, the act of wearing a mask will be a personal choice," said superintendent Ben Halsey in an automated call to district residents late Tuesday afternoon. "This simple step is significant. Over the last two years, the work accomplished, and the adjustments and modifications to almost everything involved with how we run schools and educate children, has singlehandedly been the most impressive thing I've ever seen or been a part of. And I congratulate all of you—our students, faculty and staff, to our parents and community members—on a job well done."
Mr. Halsey said masks are no longer required at any Pioneer school buildings, in classrooms, on buses, at extracurricular events, and the same applies to any guest visiting Pioneer. "It is a personal choice to wear a mask, and we will respect that," he said.
