A familiar favorite is Pioneer High School's annual musical for 2024-25.
'Anything Goes" will not only spotlight student performers, but also help reopen the George C. Crawford Auditorium following a nine-month, stage-forward renovation.
'Anything Goes' by Cole Porter was first staged 91 years ago in 1934. This is the first time Pioneer has presented the show.
The story concerns madcap antics aboard an ocean liner bound from New York to London. Billy Crocker is a stowaway in love with heiress Hope Harcourt, who is engaged to Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. Nightclub singer Reno Sweeney and Public Enemy Number 13, "Moonface" Martin, aid Billy in his quest to win Hope.
Songs introduced that later became pop and jazz standards include 'Anything Goes', 'You're the Top', 'I Get a Kick Out of You', and 'All Through the Night'.
'Anything Goes' at Pioneer starts with a free senior citizen performance on Wednesday, March 26, at 4:00 p.m. Regular performances are Friday, March 28, at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, March 29, at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, March 30, at 2:00 p.m. Purchase tickets
