Kindness and inclusiveness were among the themes when author Miranda Mittleman visited recently with Pioneer K-2 students.
Classes from both Arcade and Delevan filled the auditorium at Delevan as Mrs. Mittleman read to students from her books. She brought along her dog, Weaver, whose adventures are central to the author's books.
Mrs. Mittleman calls her award-winning book series PAWS & THINK, and includes the titles "I Am Important", "We Are All Different", and "Be Thankful for What You Have." Each teaches valuable life lessons through the eyes of her rescued dog, Weaver.
Mrs. Mittleman grew up in Baltimore, MD, where she earned her bachelor's degree in marketing from Towson University. She is an avid runner, a blackbelt in karate, and has even been a contestant on Wheel of Fortune. But her passion has always been poetry, and she was inspired to write the PAWS & THINK series with support from her husband Michael.
The libraries at Arcade and Delevan have copies of Mrs. Mittleman's books for students to check out.
