Pioneer Superintendent Nicholas Silvaroli has issued the following message to district families:
"It is with tremendous sadness to inform you that Saturday afternoon (June 17), a serious head-on motor vehicle collision claimed the lives of one of our beloved Arcade Elementary kindergarten students and two other adult occupants traveling in the same vehicle. There were also additional occupants that were seriously injured in the collision that are being cared for at local hospitals.
"This tragic event has affected our entire school family and I wanted you to know what happened in the event you feel you need to discuss it with your child. Please know that we will have our crisis team of professionals ready and available for when students return to school on June 20 to support our students and staff. These professionals will remain in place for the full final week of the school year.
"On behalf of Pioneer Central Schools, our thoughts and prayers are with the impacted families during this difficult time of loss and grief. Thank you for your attention and please reach out to your child’s building principal should you have any questions or concerns as we navigate this difficult time."
